San Francisco Football Legends Take On ALS

*Around 1990, 27 former 49er football player veterans who were formerly members of the “Team of the 80’s” and other dignitaries wanted to do something to raise money for ALS research. They rallied on the “sidelines” and came up with the idea to share their collective memories with the public of their days on and off the playing field that would be sold on video tape (the popular format of the time) to raise money for ALS research. In October of 2017 when Dwight Clark passed from ALS it was decided that the time was right to resurrect this project and possibly even, stimulate a sequel of more recent stories for the same purpose.  The oral histories presented here are time-capsule precious and give 49er fans a good look into the history of the beginning of football in San Francisco. Time has passed and a cure for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) is yet to be found. This presentation is the dream these athletes had as their way to help. Now in DVD format, ALL PROFITS FROM THE SALES WILL BE DONATED TO ALS RESEARCH as was originally conceptualized by this special group of 49er veterans. To buy this DVD Visit 1000+Video

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed restricted free agent RB Raheem Mostert to a three-year deal and signed P Justin Vogel to a one-year deal.

*Mostert (5-10, 197) appeared in each of the team’s first nine games of the 2018 season and registered 34 carries for 261 yards and one touchdown while adding six receptions for 25 yards. Mostert also tied for the team lead with seven tackles on special teams. He was placed on the Injured Reserve List on November 2, 2018. Throughout his four-year career, he has appeared in 34 games and registered 41 carries for 297 yards (7.2 average) and one touchdown to go along with 16 tackles on special teams.

*Vogel (6-5, 220) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 5, 2017. He appeared in all 16 games as a rookie and punted 71 times for 3,155 yards (44.4 average), posted a 41.6 net average and had 19 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. A 2018 Pro Bowl alternate, his 41.6 net punting average ranked seventh in the NFL and was the highest by a Packers punter since 1976, while his two touchbacks on the season were the fewest by a Green Bay punter with at least 70 punts. Vogel was waived by Green Bay on May 4, 2018 and was later claimed off of waivers by the Cleveland Browns on May 7, 2018. After spending training camp with Cleveland, he was waived on September 1, 2018.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that the team has named Dustin Little head athletic trainer.

“We are excited to add Dustin to our health and performance team and believe he is a tremendous fit for our group,” said 49ers General Manager John Lynch. “A wide net was cast for this search, and we simply kept coming back to him. Our due diligence and a great recommendation from the Broncos organization, which is highly regarded for the care of its players, made us extremely confident in bringing Dustin aboard.”

Little joins the 49ers after spending more than five years with the Denver Broncos as an assistant athletic trainer/physical therapist (2014-15), director of rehabilitation/assistant athletic trainer/DPT (2016-17) and director of rehabilitation/assistant athletic trainer (2018). He also spent the summer of 2013 as an intern with the team’s medical department.

Little earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota where he played for the school’s basketball and football teams. He went on to earn his master’s degree from South Dakota State and later his doctor of physical therapy (DPT) from South Dakota. A member of the professional football athletic trainers society, Little is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and has a certification in applied functional science (CAFS).
