The 49ers recently hired former Miami Dolphins coach Tony Oden. He was the safety coach for the Miami Dolphins. Tony got his first NFL coaching job in 2004 with the Houston Texans. He has been coaching for the last 18 years. He has coached for the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints,Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. He will be replacing Joe Woods who took a job with the Cleveland Browns.
In his first 14 years as a coach his teams have finished top 5 in interceptions five times. It seems that he does a good job at getting a lot out of his players. He obviously has a lot of coaching experience. Oden and current 49ers Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh worked on the same Jacksonville Jaguars staff back in the day.
From what I can see Oden is very good at setting his players up for interceptions. He has a lot of valuable experience that will be very beneficial for the team. His ties to Saleh makes sense why the team took a look at him. I do think he will fit in well with the 49ers coaching staff.
